Save Interaction Node

The Save Interaction Node saves the details of the current interaction to the Xponent Identity Manager. It uses any existing identifiers in the Profile / Identifiers area of the Schema to store the Interaction. As a convenient side-effect it will also perform an Update Profile operation so that the state of the Identifiers, Journey Steps and Interactions after this node has executed will be completely up to date with the Xponent ID Manager.

The Save Interaction Node has the following inputs:

  • Interaction Type - a drop down menu that allows you to choose an Interaction Type as defined in the Profile Metadata screen
  • Timestamp - an optional value that allows the timestamp to be overridden - the default value is Metadata/timestamp
  • Context - an optional value (Schema, Public Variable or Literal) that describes the context of this interaction

In the past, Interaction Types are saved in a database and is executed via a variety of graphs and sub-graphs to ensure that the interactions are saved and retrieved accordingly. With the introduction of the Save Interaction Node, the workflow can be executed much more seamlessly.

Example of how graph executions currently functions with saving interaction / interaction types:

Examples of how Save Interaction Nodes simplifies the workflow:

Add a Save Interaction Node

The Save Interaction node can be added to a graph the same way you would add any other nodes to a graph - just right click and select "Add Node to Graph"

In the dialogue box, you will now see the option to either add Update Profile node or Save Interaction node. Selecting the Save Interaction node will then add the node to the graph.

Once added, it will be important to select an interaction type in the drop down menu. If you haven't created an interaction type, you can click on the "Add Interaction Type" text link in the right hand panel to create the interaction type.

Deleting an interaction type will also render the Save Interaction node to become a ghost node.

WarningNote

The Save Interaction Node requires you to select an Interaction Type from the dropdown menu. When creating a Save Interaction Node, an interaction type must be defined. The interaction type drop down can be found in the right hand side bar. If there are no interaction types created prior, you can then create one under Project Settings >> Profile Metadata.
